Privacy Policy
FaxJet is a mobile fax application published by Lynex Studio LLC (“FaxJet,” “we,” or “us”). This policy explains what data the FaxJet iOS app and the FaxJet website (faxjet.net, including its web fax sender) collect, how it is used, and the rights you have over it. By using FaxJet you agree to the terms described below.
1. Documents you fax
When you send a fax, its pages (scans, photos, or a PDF) and any cover page are uploaded over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our servers and sent from there, through our fax carrier, to the number you choose. We keep them on our servers together with the fax record, so your history, receipts, drafts, and resending work on any of your devices. If you have your own fax number in FaxJet, the faxes you receive are kept the same way.
They stay until you delete them: delete a fax or a draft in the app, or use Settings › Data & Privacy › Delete My Data to delete all of your data from our servers and your iPhone.
2. Information FaxJet collects
- Documents and cover pages: the pages you fax or save as drafts, and anything you type on a cover page, such as names, a subject, or a message.
- Fax records: the recipient number (or, for faxes you receive, the sender’s number), page count, times, status, and confirmation number.
- Device information: a random device identifier (Apple’s identifier for vendor), device model, iOS version, app version, country, and language. Without an account, this identifier is how the app recognizes you.
- Account (optional): if you create an account in Settings, your first and last name, your email address, and a one-way hash of your password (never the password itself), so you can sign in on another iPhone and keep your faxes. The account is linked to your data. You can delete it in the app (Settings › Account › Delete Account, or Settings › Data & Privacy › Delete My Data), which deletes it and your data from our servers.
- Purchases: your subscription status and purchase history, which we receive from Apple through our subscription provider. We never see your payment details.
- Faxes sent from the website: the documents and cover page you upload, the fax number, and the email address you give for your receipt. There is no account: a random identifier in a cookie lets this browser see its fax again, and the fax’s tracking link shows it in any browser.
- Web payments: processed by Stripe. We receive the payment’s status, amount, card brand or wallet (such as Apple Pay), and your email address. We never see or store your card number.
- Website usage: which pages and steps of the web sender you use, such as adding a document or opening the payment, with counts, prices, and the country of the fax number, linked to a random identifier stored in your browser. It never includes your documents, cover page text, fax numbers, email address, or file names.
- Support and feedback: the messages you send us, and your email address if you choose to give it.
- Notifications: if you turn them on, your iPhone’s notification token, so we can tell you when a fax is delivered, fails, or arrives. Notifications are delivered through Apple and show the recipient’s or sender’s name or number.
- App usage: which screens you open and what you do in them, such as starting a fax, saving a draft, or choosing a plan, with counts, durations, and times, and whether a fax was delivered. This is linked to the random device identifier and never includes your pages, cover page text, phone numbers, or file names.
- Crash and diagnostic reports: when the app crashes or a request fails, a technical report with the device model, iOS version, app version, and the error. These reports never include your pages, cover page text, phone numbers, or file names, and they are not linked to your identity.
- AI edits: when you use AI Edit, the page you edit and the instruction you type, and a record of each edit (its time, its status, and whether it used a weekly edit or a credit), along with your credit balance and credit pack purchases.
- AI letters: when you use AI Letter, what you type for the letter. We do not keep it once the letter is written.
We do not collect contacts, location, microphone, health, or fitness data. We do not show ads, do not use advertising identifiers, and do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
3. Camera and Photo Library access
FaxJet requests camera access only when you choose to scan a document, and photo library access only when you choose to pick photos. FaxJet only reads the photos you pick and never browses your library. You can change both permissions at any time in iOS Settings. Scanning, which finds a page’s edges, straightens it and cleans it up, happens on your iPhone.
4. How we use information
- To send your faxes and to receive faxes at your fax number.
- To notify you when a fax is delivered, fails, or arrives, if you turn notifications on.
- To show your history, receipts, and drafts on any of your devices.
- To manage your subscription and access to FaxJet features, and to take payments for faxes sent from the website and refund the ones that fail.
- To answer your support requests and feedback.
- To find and fix crashes and failed transmissions.
- To understand how FaxJet is used and improve it.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- To make the AI edits and write the AI letters you ask for.
5. Sharing with third parties
FaxJet relies on a small number of service providers:
- Fax carrier: a regulated telecommunications provider that transmits your fax to the recipient and delivers faxes sent to your fax number.
- Apple: processes subscription payments through the App Store and delivers notifications if you turn them on.
- RevenueCat: manages subscription status for us.
- Amplitude: receives the app and website usage events described above, so we can see how FaxJet is used and improve it.
- Sentry: receives the crash and diagnostic reports described above, from the app and from the website.
- Stripe: processes payments made on the website, sends their payment receipts, and handles refunds.
- AI provider: when you use AI Edit, the page and your instruction go to fal.ai, which makes the edit with OpenAI’s image model. When you use AI Letter, what you type for the letter goes to fal.ai, which sends it through OpenRouter to OpenAI’s model to write the letter. They use them only to make the edit or write the letter.
- Cloud hosting: the data center that runs our servers and stores your data.
These providers process data on our behalf and may not use it for any other purpose. We do not sell your data to anyone.
6. Data retention
Documents, cover pages, drafts, and fax records stay on our servers until you delete them in the app (one at a time, or all at once with Delete My Data) or ask us to delete them. Delete My Data removes them from our servers and from your iPhone. App usage events are kept until you use Delete My Data or ask us to delete them; Delete My Data also asks Amplitude to delete them. Crash and diagnostic reports are kept for a limited period and then deleted. Purchase records may be kept as long as accounting law requires. Pages sent for an AI edit and the edited results are deleted from our servers within a day; a record of the edit, without the page or your words, is kept like your fax records. What you type for an AI letter is not kept on our servers, and neither is the letter until you fax it or save it as a draft. Faxes sent from the website are kept the same way as the app’s: delete their documents from the fax’s tracking page, or email us to delete everything; payment records are kept as long as accounting law requires.
7. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data FaxJet holds about you. You can delete your data yourself at any time with Settings › Data & Privacy › Delete My Data, or email info@laynexstudio.com. For a fax sent from the website, delete its documents from its tracking page, or email us its tracking link.
8. Children
FaxJet is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app and on this page. Continued use of FaxJet after a change means you accept the updated policy.
