Send a fax abroad

Choose the country, then type the number the way people write it there, leading 0 included. FaxJet turns it into the international format and shows it under the field, so you can check it before you pay.

If you already have the number in international format (it starts with + and the country code), paste it as it is.

In most countries the leading 0 is dropped after the country code. Italy is the exception in this list: its landline numbers keep the 0 after +39. You don’t have to remember this, because FaxJet does it for you once the country is right.

A fax is a phone call, and calls to fixed lines cost different amounts in different countries. FaxJet’s price for a country follows what its carrier pays for that call, per page, and it is fixed before you pay: a slow line or a redial never adds to it.

To the US and Canada a fax costs $2.99 up to 10 pages and $4.99 up to 30. Everywhere else the price starts at $3.99 and grows with the page count where calls are expensive. The table on this page lists every country, and fax prices explains what is included.

Many offices switch their fax machine off at night or let it run out of paper over the weekend. FaxJet calls a busy or silent line again twice, two minutes apart: that helps with a busy machine, not with one that stays off until morning.

So send during the recipient’s working hours when you can. If a fax fails because nobody answered, it is refunded, and you can send it again when the office opens.

Not every number abroad can receive a fax from FaxJet:

• Mobile numbers: almost no mobile phone answers a fax. FaxJet warns you when a number looks like a mobile, so you can check it with the recipient.
• Premium rate and shared cost numbers are refused, because whoever runs the number sets the price of the call.
• A few very expensive destinations can’t be dialed. If a number can’t be reached, the fax fails and is refunded.

FaxJet writes the cover page in the language of the page you send from. To send a cover page in Japanese, German or any of the site’s nine languages, switch the language at the top of the page before you start. The free fax cover sheet maker lets you pick the language of the sheet too.

From any other country, choose United States or Canada and type the 10 digit number. The price is the same as from inside the US: $2.99 up to 10 pages. The website charges in US dollars; your bank may convert the amount and add its own fee for a payment in a foreign currency.
