Pay per fax. Nothing else.

FaxJet sells faxing in two separate ways. The website charges for each fax. The iPhone app is a subscription billed by Apple. They don’t mix: a fax from the website never starts a subscription, and an app plan doesn’t cover faxes sent from the website.

App plans renew until you cancel them in iOS Settings, and there is no free trial. The page limits are lower for countries where calls cost more; the terms of service have the details.

Count your faxes. A Pro week costs $9.99, the price of about three faxes from the website. A Pro month at $29.99 equals about ten website faxes, and a Pro year at $99.99 about thirty three.

So if you send a fax now and then, pay per fax on the website. If you send more than about ten faxes a month, need to receive faxes or scan a lot of paper, the FaxJet iPhone app is the cheaper and more practical choice.

The price goes by the total number of pages, cover page included. Each page of a PDF counts as one page, and so does each photo.

Watch the line between 10 and 11 pages to the US or Canada: a 10 page document with a cover page is 11 pages and costs $4.99. If the recipient doesn’t need a cover page, leave it off, or put your note on the first page of the document.

One fax holds up to 30 pages. A longer document goes out as two faxes.

A fax that can’t be delivered after the automatic redials is refunded in full, without you asking. That covers a busy line, no answer, a number that isn’t a fax, a dropped call and a file that couldn’t be prepared.

A fax that was delivered isn’t refunded automatically, even if the recipient finds a page hard to read or the number turns out to belong to another office. If something went wrong on FaxJet’s side, write to FaxJet support.

Refunds go back to the card or wallet you paid with. Most banks show them within 5 to 10 days.

The price you see before paying is the whole price. There is:

• No account fee, monthly fee or setup fee.
• No extra charge for redials or for a slow line.
• No charge per minute: the price is fixed before you pay.
• No charge for the cover page beyond the page it adds.
• No charge for a fax that fails.

Prices are in US dollars. If your card is in another currency, your bank converts the amount and may add its own fee.

Free fax websites exist; they usually put advertising on the cover page, limit the number of pages and send only within the US. Print shops charge per page at the counter. Online fax subscriptions charge every month, whether you fax or not. FaxJet’s website sits in between: no ads, over 240 countries, a receipt and a refund, for one price per fax. The guide to sending a fax from a computer compares the ways to fax in more detail.
